The ISI report quotes that:
"The Granville School provides a high quality education for its pupils.  It has many strong features and is outstanding in several important areas.  The school achieves its aims and meets the needs of its pupils effectively.  It provides broad and wide-ranging opportunities enabling pupils to strive towards reaching their potential.  Achievement levels are high in most subjects and this is largely the result of high quality and often outstanding teaching."
 
The school was also praised for its outstanding quality of pastoral care and welfare of the pupils.  "Pupils are exceptionally well cared for and, as a result, their personal development is outstanding.  Relationships between all in the community are very strong."
 
The school was reported as having no weaknesses:
 
"Pupils' learning and achievement are outstanding.  Pupils are very well grounded in knowledge, skills and the understanding of their academic subjects.  They are very successful in their academic work and other activities.  The high standards set by the school enable pupils to achieve places at the secondary schools of their choice and their performance in public examinations in relation to their abilities is very good.  Pupils are effective learners, who very successfully apply their knowledge, think critically and respond enthusiastically to the many challenges the school offers."

Helping children achieve well and enjoy what they do

The provision is outstanding.

The quality of teaching and learning is outstanding.

Children are happy and settled, as they are cared for by teachers and their assistants in age related classrooms, contributing to their sense of security and belonging.  Children access a wide range of resources. Children play and work co-operatively and are developing social skills due to activities being arranged to actively support group work. Children feel good about their efforts and achievements because adults readily praise them and make them feel good about themselves. Children's learning and skills acquisitions are enhanced by the adults' interaction and warm, positive and caring ways.  All staff are vigilant in their care for the children and are fully aware of their needs, consequently children thrive.

Adults working with children demonstrate an excellent knowledge of the Foundation Stage of learning. Staff have detailed plans in place that allow children to access a wide range of resources.  Children are making excellent progress in all six areas of learning.

Children enjoy learning about the world around them.  Children are taught about maths in a fun and exciting manner.  Children are learning early science skills at a level they can understand.

Helping children make a positive contribution

The provision is outstanding.

Children have access to a broad range of resources which promotes diversity and equal opportunities. Staff ensure they incorporate children's own cultural backgrounds into their planning, which ensures children attend an inclusive setting.

Children are very well behaved as a result of good role modelling by the staff.  Staff ensure children use good manners during the day and that they understand the difference between right and wrong.  Children are very good at understanding the importance of sharing.

The partnership with parents and carers is outstanding.

Staff work extremely well with parents, as a result children benefit greatly from this relationship.

Organisation

The organisation is outstanding.

The quality of leadership and management are outstanding.

Staff in the Early Years... have an excellent understanding of the Foundation Stage of learning and effectively deliver the early years curriculum.  This promotes children's learning and helps them to make extensive progress.
