GRANVILLE CELEBRATES ITS 65TH BIRTHDAY - July 2010 The end of term celebrated Granville's 65th birthday with a whole school picnic in the gardens. The highlight was a visiting ice cream van! Each child received a commemorative teddy, a bookmark and a balloon.

The snow has been quite challenging for many of us trying to get to and from school but for the children, playing in the snow, has been a very positive part of the 'big freeze'.

The Granville are now the proud owners of two hens and an Eglu to house them in.
Our two new recruits arrived at the beginning of the Summer Term. They live in a free range area and are now producing eggs on a daily basis (some of which are double-yolked). A competition was held to name the chickens and they are known as Blackberry and Toffee. The eggs are raffled each week and the proceeds pay for feed and cleaning materials. The children love looking after Blackberry and Toffee and have taken responsibility for cleaning the roosting area and feeding them and the highlight is to collect the freshly laid eggs. Recording pods have also been used by Reception class to listen to the clucking sounds the hens make which has encouraged the girls' listening skills.
