Our Aims and Educational Purpose
At The Granville we encourage children to develop into caring, self-reliant and well educated girls who have the confidence to face future challenges. This is achieved by high quality teaching and pastoral care. We aim to:
- Nurture originality and creativity
- Encourage a sense of enquiry and an ability to solve problems.
- Establish the principles of courtesy and consideration
- Teach the importance of service to others
We aim to develop and realise each child’s full potential through attention to individual needs and an emphasis on learning as fun. We believe the early lessons of education to be the basis of all learning and behaviour. We consider concentration is an exercise of mind and character. Without this, nothing can be accomplished and therefore it is encouraged from the very beginning. Listening and speaking are valued highly.
As a non-selective school we provide a full and balanced programme that includes the requirements of the National Curriculum but also gives a greater breadth of learning. We prepare our girls for:
- Common Entrance
- Scholarships
- 11+
We regularly achieve academic, music, sport and drama scholarships at senior schools, locally and nationally. |
