Parents
We believe in a close partnership between home and school. There is an ‘open door’ policy at The Granville. The teachers and Headmistress are always pleased to discuss a pupil’s welfare or progress. Regular newsletters and programmes of events keep parents informed of all that is happening in the school. The school maintains an informative website (www.granvilleschool.org)  that can be accessed for up to date information.

Twice a year, at the end of the Christmas and Spring term, there are parents’ meetings for each class with grades given for achievement and effort. Objectives are also agreed for future learning. There is a full written report in all subjects at the end of the year.

During Year 5, when the girls are 10 years old, parents are given information about the entrance procedures to senior schools and about scholarships and the 11+ selective procedure for grammar schools. Parents are encouraged to discuss the move to secondary education with the teachers and the Headmistress.

Fostering strong, positive and friendly relationships with parents enables the children to flourish.  Parents are encouraged to play an active role within the school and opportunities include helping the younger children with swimming, transporting children to matches and helping with match teas, flower arranging for Spring Festival, helping with refreshments at various school events, manning stalls at the annual fete, assisting in the school shop, making costumes for school productions, accompanying some school trips.  Opportunities to help are endless. Parent help is invaluable and very much welcomed and appreciated.
