Disaster Emergency Committee Typhoon Appeal

Disaster Emergency Committee Typhoon Appeal

Update December 2013: The Granville School are pleased to announce that between FOG and the School we have raised the fabulous sum of £2484.57 for the Disaster Emergency Committee Typhoon Appeal. Thank you all very much for your generosity.

The Granville School would like to support the Disaster Emergency Committee Typhoon Appeal

As a school we thought it was important to give the girls an opportunity to respond positively to the unfolding tragedy in the Philippines, especially as we prepare them for the importance of Christmas as a time of giving and thinking of others, as well as receiving.

We have decided to raise money in the following ways:

  • We will be asking people coming to our Christmas Fayre to make a voluntary donation of a  minimum £1  on entry.
  • We have also talked about this situation in assembly and have encouraged the girls to undertake some tasks they would not normally do at home in order to raise some extra money. They should bring this money to school on Monday in an envelope. It will be collected on their way into assembly.
  • On Friday 22nd November we will have a ‘Wear Something Red’ day. The children should come into school in their normal uniform but with one item which is red, eg tights, jumper, hair band etc.
  • FOG are also investigating the possibility of collecting specific items which will be sent via plane to the Philippines. Details will be sent out separately.

After the final event we will send all monies received to the DEC

All donations, no matter how big or small will be gratefully received and put to extremely good use by this important and hard working agency.

The money raised will be put to work in the following ways:

  • £25 for water purification tablets for ten families for a month.
  • £50 will provide a family with food for 2 weeks.
  • £100 for an emergency shelter and bedding for one family.
