Since the beginning of term, Miss Rendle and the PE Team have been working with the senior girls to improve their cross country running. This has resulted in some brilliant achievements throughout the season.
On Saturday morning, the team competed in the Kent Primary Schools Cross Country Championship at Detling near Maidstone. The conditions were awful with driving wind, rain and very cold temperatures but The Granville turned out in force and were really keen to do well. It was a huge event with over 1500 competitors!
As usual, the girls dug deep and remained focused despite being wet and very cold. Their determination paid off and The Granville returned some fabulous results across all years!
On the 800m course, Year 3’s were placed second in the team event which was fabulous given it was their first competitive event. 5 Girls from Granville were in the top 15 finishers. It was then the older girls turn to race, they had a particularly gruelling 1600m run with two very long inclines. Continuing their brilliant form of the season Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 took first place in each of their team events making The Granville the most successful team on the day. Every race had 130 plus runners competing, every Granville runner finished in the top half placing’s.
Well done to the entire teams!
Congratulations to Jasmine, this is her 3rd win of the cross country season. With a field of 144 runners Jasmine led the whole way round the 800m course. Becoming the U9 Kent Schools Champion is a fantastic achievement, well done Jasmine!
