On 28th September 2017 , the girls in Years 3 to 6 were lucky enough to meet the fantastic Megan Rix, author of such books as The Victory Dogs, The Hero Pup and Winston and the Marmalade Cat.
During the afternoon, Megan talked to the girls about her books and showed lots of pictures of the animals that have inspired many of her stories. The girls were fortunate enough to listen to Megan reading an extract from her latest novel, which is about Winston Churchill and a tiny kitten. However, the highlight of the afternoon was definitely when Megan introduced the girls to her two assistance dogs, Freya and Bella. Both dogs delighted the girls by refusing to do the jobs they are trained for, opting instead to hunt for treats in Megan’s bag!
The visit ended with the girls having the opportunity to ask the author lots of questions before buying books and having their books signed. The children were very lucky to get personalised dedications written in their books, which we hope they will treasure for many years to come. At the end of her visit, Megan told some of the staff how thrilled she was to see how many of the girls had already read her books and by the range of intelligent questions that they asked her. She said they were a delight to speak to. Well done, girls. we hope you enjoyed meeting Megan as much as she enjoyed meeting you. Keep reading!
