This was a really nice match and both teams were quite evenly matched.
Granville won the toss, and chose to field first. Venetia bowled beautifully, and Florrie as backstop managed to collect balls not hit and send them effectively to post players. Kitty didn’t have much to do on 1st post, but she was ready for the ball if needed, and stumped a couple of girls out. Maddie was superb on 2nd post, catching anything that was thrown to her, and stumped a number of players out. Eva had good hands on 4th post. The deep fielders Izzy, Lauren, Annabel and Georgina were ready for big hits, but didn’t have an awful lot to do. Hilden Grange had a couple of ‘sloggers’ that caused us problems in returning the ball to the posts.
The girls batted well, with most of them making good connection with the ball. Annabel scored 2 lovely rounders from her three tries; Venetia scored 1.5, and Maddie and Lauren one each.
This team is improving rapidly, and work hard for each other. Well done!
The B team were put into bat first by Hilden Grange. The girls had had a very cautious start and took a while to score. However we quickly realised that as we only had a limited 15 good balls, they had to start hitting and running to get to the all important second post. This made for more excitement and although several were out in their determination, the girls started to score rounders. Hilden Grange went in to bat and The Granville fielded
securely. We had a couple of potential catches and stumped several of their players out.
After two innings, the final score was a very close.
