The U11A’s had their second tournament of the year at St Michael’s on Wednesday. Not the best weather, but the girls were looking forward to playing.
They had six teams in their group, with only six minutes per match the games were going to be fast and furious! The team got off to a good start and kept the same pace throughout the group stage.
Rose Hill 3-0 win
Russell House 2-0 win
Walthamstow Hall 3-0 win
St Michael’s 1-1
Hilden Grange 3-0 win
Hilden Oaks 5-0 win
This meant we went through as group winners, we then had to play Derwent Lodge in the semi finals. The girls played really well but went 1-0 down. Because the games were so short it is difficult to get back in front. Unfortunately, the final whistle went just as we were about to shoot to make it a draw. The game could have gone either way with nothing really separating the teams. The girls only let in two goals throughout the tournament which is a great achievement and we had the best goal difference in the tournament.
Derwent Lodge went on to win the tournament.
The U11 B team attended a tournament at St Michael’s on Wednesday . The girls were in high spirits, despite having to play their matches outside in the poor weather conditions.
We had a successful first match against Russell House which we won 6-0. The team worked well in the circle and both shooters were on good form. Our second match was against Sutton Valence who beat us 4-3, however, this was a very close match with both teams pushing each other to play better. In our third game we beat Hilden Oaks 4-0, again the team worked well together and got the ball to the circle with ease. Our final group match was against Walthamstow Hall who were a tough competitor, the girls fought hard during this game, however the opposition were strong and managed to win 6-1.
The girls played well in their group matches winning half their games, however this was not enough to win their group to play in the finals. The girls demonstrated some great netball during these short games and worked really well as a team, its a shame they didnt get through to the finals.
Good effort girls!
