Kent Primary Schools Swimming Finals

Kent Primary Schools Swimming Finals

GRANVILLE WIN THROUGH TO THE REGIONAL SWIM FINALS.

Breaststroke – Sasha

Sasha swam brilliantly in the heats and came 1st in her heat with a PB of 42.92

She then qualified for the final in 2nd place. In the final, with lots of screaming from enthusiastic parents, she came 1st with a PB of 42.53 and won the Gold medal.  Sasha was delighted as were her parents and the rest of the team.

Backstroke – Maddy

Maddie again, swam superbly in the heats and came 4th with a PB of 41.03

She qualified for the final as 6th fastest swimmer. In the final, again with lots of support from the Granville team, she came 5th with a time of 41.43 and received a 5th place medal. This is such a fantastic achievement bearing in mind she is only in year 5 and it isn’t her best stroke.

Freestyle – Zoe

Zoe again swam with determination and focus in the heats and came 1st in her heat with a PB of 31.11. She then qualified for the final with the 2nd fastest time of all swimmers in the heats. In the final, she battled so hard and came a brilliant 2nd with a time of 31.74 and won the Silver medal

Medley Relay – Zoe, Maddy, Maddie Wise and Sasha.

In the medley relay heat the girls achieved a fantastic time of 1m 16.74s which was only a 10th of a second slower than their qualifying time from a few weeks ago but then we heard the news that they had been disqualified. Unlucky girls! The team that won the heats was St Christopher’s with a time of 1m 16.65s. They then went on to win the gold medal. The girls took the news so well, moved on, and then battled on with the Freestyle relay.

Freestyle Relay – Sasha, Maddie, Maddy and Zoe.

In the freestyle relay heat the girls fought hard and qualified for the final with a fantastic time of 1m 05.93s and beat their qualifying time from a few weeks ago

They qualified for the final in 2nd place with St Christopher’s qualifying in 1st place with a time of 1m 05.14s. In the final, with even more screaming from parents, they won the Silver medal with an even faster time of 1m 05.08s. It was such an exciting afternoon and great to see all the girls on the Podium winning medals

Granville have now qualified for the South East Regional Finals with their Freestyle Relay which is to be held on Saturday 26th April at 6pm at Guildford Spectrum

Thank you to Mrs Naylor-Perrot and Mrs Kelly for kitting out the team in championship T-shirts, and providing photographs and information for this report.
