U9 C TEAM ROUNDERS v KENT COLLEGE

U9 C TEAM ROUNDERS v KENT COLLEGE

It was the U9 C teams first ever rounder’s match and the girls were all very excited as we headed off in the mini bus for Kent College. Unfortunately, we lost the toss and so began by batting first.

We quickly scored two half rounder’s due to consecutive ‘no balls’ from the Kent College bowler. Sienna was able to hit the ball well and run onto second base to score another half rounder. Iona then struck the ball on her first hit and managed to run all the way round to score our first rounder of the game. Further half rounders were scored by Charlotte M, Charlotte H and Sasha. Iona then went on to score another full rounder. Fantastic!

Kent College fielders also gave away some half rounders due to fielding errors. Charlotte M bowled consistently well and with Emma as backstop, this proved a great combination. Charlotte H picked up some useful deep balls to pass effectively to Sasha on second base, who was then able to stump the opposition runners out. Again, this proved to be another solid combination. Lucinda also fielded some useful balls to stump out two runners at 3rd base.

The end of the first innings saw Kent College leading by 5.5 rounder’s to Granville’s 5.

In the second innings, Sienna was unfortunate not to sore a full rounder after a great hit that only just saw the opposition stop her at third base. Sasha batted well and managed to hit all three of her balls. Harriet, Lucy, Charlotte M, Charlotte H, Iona, Lucy and Emma, were all able to score half rounder’s on their second innings due to improved batting as well as forcing the fielding team to make mistakes under pressure. This time we fielded with greater understanding and began to really work well as a team.

Granville scored 5.5 and Kent College scored 3.

This proved to be a really good games experience for the C team, with lots of really encouraging positives to take away from the match. A well deserved and satisfying victory indeed!
