On Tuesday 19th July, Year 6 visited Down House, the home of Charles Darwin. They learnt all about his life and expeditions from an exhibition, got to walk around the rooms of his family home and enjoyed his beautiful gardens and laboratory. It was a fabulously sunny day to go exploring historical grounds. They enjoyed trying on period clothes too.
Year 6 then met Lucy the tortoise this week and were naturalists just like Charles Darwin. They made careful observations about Lucy’s appearance and behaviour, even drawing the markings on her shell. Lucy is over 48 years old so surprised everyone with her speed! A big thank you to Mrs Bates for bringing Lucy in for the girls.
