The Granville U11 netball team completed an outstanding season by being the only Kent School to earn qualification into the IAPS National U11 netball finals. This quality team have returned excellent results this year, winning the Woldingham School, Russell House and Sevenoaks School U11 tournaments.
In early March they went to Roedean School for the regional round of the IAPS U11 tournament. 64 teams from Kent, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire fought for a place in the second round. After seven matches, Granville finished in second place behind Guildford High School with six wins and one defeat. This was enough to secure a place in the play-offs, where comfortable wins against St Ives and Brighton College put them through to the final group stages. Two wins against Holmewood House and Holy Cross, and a loss against Copthorne saw Granville through to the National finals.
A few days later, Granville returned to Roedean where the top 36 schools in the country met – all who had come through their regional qualifying rounds. Granville beat Cheltenham College, Bishopsgate, Prince’s Mead and Old Hall; drew with Felsted, but lost to St Christopher’s, St George’s (Windsor), and The Study. Qualification through to the quarter-finals depended upon the result of our last match, which they unfortunately lost. Granville finished 4th in the section of 9, so equal 13th in the country!
Thank you girls for your splendid work this year.
