We were extremely lucky to play the matches, as the rain was very heavy and persistent for much of the morning. Luckily, the clouds cleared, and off we went.
The 11A team wanted to maintain their unbeaten record and worked hard to keep possession and outwit the opposition. Shooters were on form; supported by strong mid-court players, and the defenders in the first half didn’t really have much to do. The score at half time was 6 – 1 to Granville. Walthamstow Hall decided to change some players around, and this made a huge difference to their ability to attack. They came back strongly, scoring 5 goals to
Granville’s 2 in the second half, so Granville narrowly clinched victory by just one goal. It was certainly a game of two halves, and there is definitely more hard work to be done. Cara and Maddie had particularly good games.
The U11B team was another close match, and in the centre court, Granville were fairly good at keeping possession. In defence, Larissa had a fantastic game. At half time the score was 4 – 2 to Granville, but Walthamstow Hall stepped up a level with their play and managed to capitalise on their goal-scoring opportunities. At three-quarter time, there was just one goal between the teams, with Granville just keeping ahead. The last quarter was very exciting, and at one point, Walthamstow Hall took the lead. However, Granville dug deep and played their best netball to level the game, and then go ahead by one goal. Emily had a great game as centre.
