U9 IAPS District Cross Country Champions
The U9 team produced some outstanding results on 12th October at The Schools at Somerhill. The 2K course is one of the hardest of the season, but our girls did not let steep hills and long inclines get in their way of achieving fantastic results. With over 110 competitors racing, The Granville team were going to have to dig deep. As the girls lined up at the start line a few nerves started to kick in, the teams plan was to get off the start line as fast as possible before the course narrows. As the horn went our girls were off, straight to leading pack! The runners head off into the distance and spectators have a long wait before the runners return into view. As the runners returned in the front groups there were the white and blue strips of the Granville team. We knew the team had done extremely well but was unsure whether it was enough to win the overall team shield. As the results were read out there was only 1 point splitting 1st and 2nd place, the team listened and then could finally cheer when The Granville were crowned winners.
Congratulations to all of the Granville Team, as all the placings are vital for the overall score, we also claimed 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th place individually.
U11 IAPS District Cross Country Runners Up
The U11 team worked extremely hard in their race against a very strong field of runners. A slightly longer course of 2.5k, the girls again got off the start line really well. With over 90 runners the girls got some strong placings. The team came runners up against a really strong Derwent Lodge team. The 3rd place school were over 120 points behind us so the competition was only really between Derwent Lodge and The Granville.
Congratulations to the whole U11 team. Runners up in our first race of the season is a great result and we are proud to have placed 4th, 8th and 9th individually.
Well done everyone!
