U9A v Won 7 – 2
U9B v Lost 0 – 6
U9C v Lost 2 – 5
On a lovely afternoon, supported by many parents from both schools all Year 4 girls played against Derwent Lodge.
The U9A team had a rather mixed game. In the first quarter we were rather slow to settle into our game whilst Derwent Lodge played a very quick and determined game. We were lucky to have the lead at 1-0. In the second quarter Derwent Lodge continued to dominate, they intercepted many of our passes which simply were not strong enough and they definitely had the edge on us leading 2-1 at half time. In the third quarter we increased our focus, our passing was more efficient and we were more determined with our interceptions. This made all the difference and we regained the lead with the score at 4-2. In the final quarter Granville played some lovely netball as everything suddenly came together. Our attacking play was particularly strong and our shooters scored some great goals. Final score Granville win 7-2.
The U9B team had a good first half, and the ball moved freely from end to end. They fought for every ball and managed to keep possession for much of the time. Derwent Lodge settled into their game, and their shooter popped a goal in just before half time. In the second half, DL stepped up a gear, and began to intercept our passes. They had lots of shots, and their shooter, despite having hurt herself in the first half, managed to score another 5 goals. Belle and Alice both had particularly good games.
The U9C team worked tirelessly, and had some good moments. They had to be really careful with their passes, as DL seemed to get in front of us to snatch the ball, if we gave them that chance. At half time, the score was 3 – 1 to DL. The second half was a much tighter affair, and Granville found space more effectively. We put in some strong passes, and generally played well, and were rewarded with another goal. The DL shooter had a great game, and hardly ever missed her shots. They scored two more goals to take the final score to 5 – 2. Imogen S had a very good match.
Thank you to the Mums and Dads who made and served cakes and tea, and helped clear up after the match. Your help is much appreciated!
