Wow! What a great afternoon the U9A netball team had at the area tournament held at Sevenoaks Prep school. All the girls were very excited to play and were well prepared in their layers as it was a rather icy cold afternoon. The girls were eager to get started and it would prove to be an almost non-stop afternoon of netball matches.
Overall, we played some fantastic netball and you could literally see with each match the progress the girls were making. For most of our games we were very evenly matched with our opposition. Granville girls settled quickly and all played well in their positions. They were able to maintain good possession of the ball for most of their matches and it was good to see their competitive streaks displayed where appropriate. Ella and Jodie were a formidable force in their shooting roles, scoring a superb 13 goals in the tournament. They were fed some great balls from their attacking players, with Alice, Lucy and Sophie working hard in their positions. Lucy as Centre and Pip in defence played well and managed some great interceptions to prevent the ball from entering our defending area. Sophia and Izzy are also developing a strong working partnership and certainly managed to prevent numerous goals being scored.
V St. Michael’s Drew 1-1
V Sevenoaks Prep Drew 3-3
V Walthamstow Hall Won 2-1
V Russell House Lost 1-3
V Hilden Oaks Drew 1-1
V Kent College Won 3-0

The girls should be really pleased with their THIRD position out of the eight teams that took part. Superb effort and a really fun afternoon had by all. The girls certainly enjoyed their afternoon tea of hot dogs as a reward! Very Well Done!
Granville U9B team went on the minibus to Tunbridge Wells to play in the Rose Hill B Netball Tournament, whilst the U9A teams were at Sevenoaks Prep Tournament. We were relieved that the weather was dry, but it was very cold!
Eight teams took part, in two sections of four. Our first match was against Rose Hill B team, and it was very even. Rose Hill just managed to score in the last few seconds of the match to snatch victory, and 5 points, leaving us with just one point. Then we played St Michael’s C team and Cara scored a nice goal to give us a one – nil win, so 5 points to us. Our final section match was against Hilden Oaks, and despite end- to-end play, neither team scored, so each school was awarded 3 points.
After the section games had finished, we were pleased to discover that we had finished in second place out of the four teams, but sadly, only the winner went through to play in the final. The final was Rose Hill B against St Michael’s B, with Rose Hill, (the host school) emerging as winners.
Equal THIRD place out of eight is a respectable result, and each girl was given feedback as to what to work on in order to continue developing their individual and team skills. Allegra was our most valuable player; Belle and Freya also played particularly well.
v Rose Hill B Lost 0 – 1
v St Michael’s C Won 1 – 0
v Hilden Oaks B Drew 0 – 0
Well done girls on a sound performance on a very cold day.
