The girls were all excited to play in their first match of the year. They were especially good in attack; all that breaktime practice from Jodie and Ella paid off! Granville had most of the possession in this match, and used it to their full advantage. The centre court players marked well, and intercepted loose passes to stop Dulwich from attacking on many occasions.
This match was much closer than the score suggests, with both teams keen to win the ball for their team. At half time, Granville were 2 – 1 up and all shooters were accurate with their shots. In the second half, Dulwich seemed to find space in which to receive the ball, and they intercepted some of our weaker passes to create attacking moves. Overall, a very good match and all played well, in particular, Isabelle as GK was excellent in defence.
All other girls in Year four from both schools enjoyed a friendly match in which they all played in attack; centre court and defence positions during the match. We started off with some skills training, and both schools combined to create the two teams. It was lovely to see the girls so excited and happy in their first match this year. Shooting was particularly good, and Isla, Daisy and Beau all scored for their team. Eliska was particularly good at marking her players out of the game. Well done to all players.
Many thanks to the many parents who came to support their daughters, and to those who provided the ‘show-stopping cakes’!
(NB All girls in Year four will be playing in matches at Walthamstow Hall next week, Thurs 28th Sept, starting at 3.00pm – team sheets to follow early next week).
