The Granville is a hive of activity on some mornings before school and after school. Our programme of extra activities provides the opportunity to discover the world beyond the academic curriculum helping children to become well rounded individuals.
They enable the children to learn new skills, develop their individual talents and extend their knowledge, also helping to develop their team building skills and self awareness. Activities include: choir, orchestra, ensemble, maypole dancing, drama, touch-typing, computing, gardening, cooking, chess, pottery and sculpture, team practices, running, tennis, swimming, football.
Prep (homework) takes place every evening from 3:50 to 4;30 and is supervised by a member of the teaching staff.
Junior school staff run a ‘Waiting’ activity club from 3:15 – 3:50 for children who have sisters in the Senior School. This enables their parents to collect siblings at the same time. We also run a breakfast club and after school care for parents who needs to drop off their children before 8 am or collect them as late as 5:30.
Throughout the year the school actively supports local, national and international charities. Various initiatives from both staff and pupils enable children to gain a greater understanding of the world beyond The Granville. Older girls have the opportunity to organise these events and considerable sums of money are raised.
