Towards the end of the last academic year, Year 6 pupils took part in thoughtful discussions about leadership at The Granville and how opportunities to lead could be made more inclusive.
As part of a consultation about the traditional Head Girl role, the girls considered how leadership could be shared more widely, giving every pupil in their final year the opportunity to contribute, develop confidence and take on meaningful responsibility.
Their ideas have helped shape a new approach to leadership at The Granville.
This year, every Year 6 girl will serve as a House Prefect, representing her house and sharing in the responsibilities of leadership across the school. All pupils will have opportunities to lead lunchtime prayers, support younger children and contribute to school life in a variety of ways.
In addition, individual responsibilities have been allocated according to each pupil’s interests, strengths and passions. Working alongside members of staff, the girls will help to organise events, lead assemblies, support younger pupils and develop new initiatives that make a positive contribution to the school community.
Each Year 6 pupil was presented with her Prefect badge during a whole-school assembly, marking the beginning of an exciting year of leadership, responsibility and service.
