On Wednesday 17th May, an excited Year 1 visited Leeds Castle. Upon our arrival, we travelled in the special land train up to the Education centre. We learnt about the history of Leeds Castle and how it has transformed over its 900 year old history. We then put on costumes and performed a play featuring swans who reside in the castle moat, before enjoying a picnic lunch in the beautiful gardens. Afterwards we transformed into knights and marched into the castle to go on an informative private tour. We even visited the cellars where visitors are not normally allowed. We danced in the party room and listened to the chatter in the dining room, admired the clothes and imagined firing arrows through the arrow loops. We learnt some new words for parts of a castle but our guides were extremely impressed with how much we already knew! There was just enough time for a quick run around in the adventure playground before the mini buses returned us to school. It was a fantastic and sunny day out enjoyed by all.
