Visiting Author – Tọlá Okogwu

16th April 24

What an amazing experience our Pre-School to Year 2 children had earlier in the term!
We met Tolá Okogwu and she told us all about how she became an author and how her daughters have inspired her to write books for children. She said “My hope is to create ‘mirrors and windows’ through my writing, allowing children the opportunity to read books that are reflective of their own experiences as well as other cultures.”
Tolá read us her brand new book called Bekah and the Moon – it is based on her own daughter called Bekah and how she  loved the moon when she was little. Tolá taught us the song from the story and we even learnt about the phases of the moon and got to act out a lunar eclipse!
